Woman critically injured after she allegedly escapes arrest, jumps from interstate bridge
Tulsa OK May 29 2017 A woman jumped from an Interstate 44 overpass just after midnight Monday near the Tulsa-Rogers county line after allegedly escaping arrest.
An Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper arrested a woman, who has not yet been identified, about midnight on I-44 near 161st East Avenue. The woman was allegedly driving under in influence, OHP Lt. Kara Philippi said.
The woman was fidgeting in the trooper’s vehicle while in route to jail. Philippi said she was able to unbuckle her safety belt. The trooper stopped near 193 East Avenue to re-secure her.
The woman allegedly bolted from the patrol vehicle when the trooper opened the door. She ran across the eastbound lanes of the interstate and jumped from the 193 East Avenue overpass.
The trooper stopped traffic on the road below the interstate. Emergency responders transported the woman to Saint Francis Health System, where she was last listed in critical condition, Philippi said.
