Woman, Man Shot in Virginia Walmart Parking Lot
Fauquier County, Virginia November 7 2019
A woman and a man were shot in the parking lot of a Walmart in Fauquier County, Virginia, Tuesday, authorities say.
A spokesperson for the Fauquier County Sheriff’s Office said the shooting happened about 5:15 p.m. at the Walmart at 700 James Madison Highway in Warrenton.
The man and woman were in a confrontation with someone while they were inside a car when the suspect shot them, the sheriff’s office said.
At least one suspect took off in a small white car and the victims went to the nearby Home Depot parking lot on Alwington Boulevard to call 911.
Medics took them to a hospital. They both are expected to be OK.
As the investigation unfolded, deputies responded to a crash at the intersection of Ritchie Road and Elk Run Road in the Midland area and one of the vehicles, a white Acura, matched the description of the suspect’s car.
The suspected shooter and three other people who were inside the Acura ran off on foot after the crash, the sheriff’s office said.
Deputies apprehended two of them. On Wednesday morning, police said they had caught all four suspects involved.
Two juveniles and two men were charged with two counts of malicious wounding, shooting into an occupied vehicle and use of a firearm during a felony.
All are being held without bond.
Authorities used a Virginia State Police helicopter, K-9s and drones in the search.
Residents in the area of Elk Run Road and Ritchie Road were advised to shelter in place, lock their doors and call 911 if they see anything suspicious.
