Yonkers security guard hailed as hero for helping family stranded in middle of highway
Yonkers NY June 9 2021
A Yonkers school security officer is being called a hero for his actions outside the classroom to help a family stranded in the middle of the highway.
Jeffrey Anderson is a school safety aide at the William Boyce Thompson School.
On Wednesday, as he was heading on an errand, he noticed a mother and daughter stranded on the Cross County Parkway after their car ran out of gas. Hundreds of cars passed them by, but not Anderson.
He parked his car on the side of the road and risked his own life to venture into incoming traffic to help the Bronxville family in need and move safely out of traffic until a service truck could help.
Rozsa Gaston called Anderson an angel for putting his life on the line to save theirs
“God tells me when it comes to our children, it’s my duty to do that, regardless of if there’s a child involved, I’m there,” says Anderson.
Rozsa and her daughter Ava tracked Anderson down Thursday at school to offer their warmest gratitude.
“We want to thank you and we want to tell you we’re never going to forget you,” said Roszer Gaston.
She promised him that they lovingly received his over-the-top gesture of kindness and she Ava promised to pay it forward.
