Charleston man arrested at North Charleston hotel for trafficking cocaine
NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. Feb 26 2019 — A Charleston man was arrested Saturday night at a North Charleston hotel for trafficking cocaine and possession with intent to distribute marijuana, police say.
Guests complained that he was smoking possible drugs in the hotel room, according to the police report.
Jereme Brown, 38, was found at the hotel bar by police and hotel security, according to the police department.
“He was advised that due to a complaint, he was being asked to leave the property and was being placed on trespass notice,” the police report states.
Brown was escorted to his room to get his things.
Officers state that in the hotel room, they saw a large bag that field tested positive for marijuana and found a powder-like substance inside a prescription pill bottle that had Brown’s name on it.
That powder field tested positive for cocaine, according to the report.
The hotel said Brown had an outstanding $102 bar tab, but management did not wish to prosecute.
He posted bond for $50,000 and was released Sunday, according to arrest records.
