Milwaukee Security Officer Killed in Shooting at Liquor Store
Milwaukee WI November 20 2019
Police say that a shooting at a city liquor store has left a security officer dead.
The shooting happened about 4:25 p.m. in the 3700 block of West Center Street in Milwaukee.
Police said a 58-year-old man security guard was fatally shot and pronounced dead at S&A Liquor.
Authorities say that the security officer was on duty but not at the liquor store.
Police say that he worked at a near-by business and are not sure why he was at the liquor store.
Police have said that they do not believe that the shooting was a result of a robbery and that they are investigating to see if the security officer was targeted.
His name has not been released.
Detectives placed two dozen evidence markers at the scene.
About the same time of the shooting, neighbors said they saw a suspicious person in the area.
He was captured on surveillance video which shows a man getting out of a car in an alley behind the liquor store.
A short time later, he can be seen returning to the car and it drives away and police are looking for that person and vehicle.
Other area business owners said the homicide had them concerned.
“As far as I’m concerned, across the street is a good business,” barber shop owner Ronnie Lockett said. “I can only imagine, there’s nothing worth losing your life over.”
“We really need to get the community together and stop all this violence, stop hating each other,” Betty Brown said.
Investigators have not made any arrests.
Police have not released a description of the shooter.
No other details were available.
Anyone with information on the shooting was asked to call police at 414-935-7360 or Milwaukee Crime Stoppers at 414-224-TIPS.
