A robber brandished an axe at a security guard during a botched supermarket raid in Dudley.
West Midlands Police issued CCTV images of the weapon-wielding man after the Aldi guard was approached with an axe at around 3pm at the Priory Road-based store on Monday, September 3.
The raider fled empty-handed but was believed to have carried out another raid at a post office in Dovedale Road, Wolverhampton, just hours later, the force said.
They made off with cash after a guard was threatened with an axe. No-one was injured.
A spokesman added: “We are searching for a man who approached a security guard with an axe at Aldi on Priory Road in Dudley just before 3pm on Monday (September 30).
“He didn’t manage to get away with anything, but we think the same man arrived with an accomplice on a motorbike at a post office on Dovedale Road in Wolverhampton just before 11.30am the next day.
“They made off with a quantity of cash after a guard was threatened with an axe. Fortunately, no-one was injured.”
