BLOOMIGTON IN Oct 31 2017
Police arrested a man after assaulting an Indiana University Health security officer during a confrontation on Thursday.
During the confrontation, police say that a patient allegedly grabbed one of the security officers by the neck.
The security officers told police that 55-year-old Darrell Allen arrived at the hospital with a mouth injury that he said he suffered from an assault.
Bloomington police say Allen got impatient waiting in the emergency waiting room to be treated and became loud and disorderly.
Employees told Allen to calm down and moved him to a hallway where he continued to be belligerent, yelling and cursing.
Security officers approached Allen asking him to calm down and that is when Allen allegedly grabbed one of the security guards by the neck.
Other officers pushed Allen to the ground, handcuffed him and brought him to the hospital’s security room and called Bloomington Police who took Allen to a treatment room where he was treated by hospital staff and then transported to jail on a charge of battery resulting in bodily injury and disorderly conduct.
